An Illustrated Larry Macklin Short Story

Mauser the Great Dane is a fan favorite in the Larry Macklin series… But how did he come to join the Macklin family in the first place? Since this is Adams County, you can bet that it involves murder and mayhem!

Larry Macklin is just a year into his job as a criminal investigator for the sheriff’s office when a simple stolen car leads to a dead body… and an abandoned puppy. Not yet cleared to work a murder on his own, Larry is relegated to dog-sitting and investigating a chop shop while his department nemesis, Matt Greene, tries to track down the murderer.

But when Matt is transferred to another case, Larry is soon neck-deep in murder, drugs and gambling rings. Find out how he solves the case, catches the killer… and arranges a pet adoption.

Sunday’s Discovery

A Larry Macklin Short Story

The most important relationship in the Larry Macklin series is the one between Larry and his dad, Sheriff Ted Macklin… But did you know that the very first time Larry solved a murder with his dad, he was only twelve years old?

What starts as a quick stop for dinner at the end of a weekend camping trip with family friends soon turns into a quest for a killer when Larry discovers a dead body in a restaurant. Trapped by rising waters in a summer thunderstorm with eight other customers, all of them possible murderers, Ted Macklin decides it’s up to him to solve the crime.

The next few hours will prove very educational for young Larry as he learns about betrayal, revenge, adult relationships… and maybe just a little about how to be an investigator.

Monday’s Woman

A Larry Macklin Short Story

Larry Macklin has a very happy marriage, but it comes with some interesting baggage in the form of rather unusual in-laws… a neo-Viking giant of a father and a hippie mother who often views the world through a cannabis-colored lens.

When his mother-in-law, Anna Laursen, calls Larry with a convoluted story about a woman who may or may not be missing, he is hesitant to be drawn into her delusions. But Anna is emphatic that something nefarious has happened so, against his will, Larry agrees to drive down to his in-laws for the weekend, with Mauser the Great Dane in tow.

Before the weekend is over, Larry will find himself posing as part of a pet therapy team, stumbling into an investigation being conducted by the local sheriff’s office, and just possibly solving a missing-persons case.
